The Living Legends

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

This past week was pretty cool. I have grown to love and enjoy the journey here in Germany. :)

It seems like I haven't been here very long, but I am also realizing through hearing from home that many of my friends are going to school and getting married, and I get a very strong sensation that actually a LOT of time is passing by. ;) XD I'm not worried, though. I love being here. :)

This past week, I was given the opportunity to work more with Elder Mazzei, our elder from Buenos Aires, in order to do some more Spanish work here in Berlin, and Elder Jensen has been with his companion on exchanges.

We had the wonderful opportunity to see a performance and fireside from the Living Legends from BYU this past week. It was a wonderful, spiritually-filled experience that I thoroughly enjoyed. It reminded me of my theatre roots at home, and I was reminded of the powerful feelings that are carried across when we take the time to be creative in expressing our feelings about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I invite you all, and challenge you, this week, to find a creative way to share your beliefs and deep feelings with others. It is worth it. :)

I also went on exchanges with the elders in Dahlem, and was able to see another part of Berlin. Berlin is beautiful this time of year. They have trees decked with flowers all over. I love it. :)

A wonderful spiritual truth that I learned this week while I was studying the Book of Mormon. Here is the scripture...

      Alma 42:
26 And thus God bringeth about his great and eternal purposes, which were prepared from the foundation of the world. And thus cometh about the salvation and the redemption of men, and also their destruction and misery.
27 Therefore, O my son, whosoever will come may come and partake of the waters of life freely; and whosoever will not come the same is not compelled to come; but in the last day, it shall be restored unto him according to his deeds.
28 If he has desired to do evil and has not repented in his days, behold, evil shall be done unto him, according to the restoration of God.
29 And now, my son, I desire that ye should let these things trouble you no more, and only let your sins trouble you, with that trouble which shall bring you down unto repentance.
30 O my son, I desire that ye should deny the justice of God no more. Do not endeavor to excuse yourself in the least point because of your sins, by denying the justice of God; but do you let the justice of God, and his mercy and his long-suffering have full sway in your heart; and let it bring you down to the dust in humility.
31 And now, O my son, ye are called of God to preach the word unto this people. And now, my son, go thy way, declare the word with truth and soberness, that thou mayest bring souls unto repentance, that the great plan of mercy may have claim upon them. And may God grant unto you even according to my words. Amen.

...I love this scripture because it testifies of the truth and mercy of the plan of God in our lives. It talks about how we can be released from our mistakes and trials if we focus on the Lord and look to Him in all we do. I have felt this in my life, and I know that the Lord is always there for us. God has made a plan for all of our lives, and He knows how we can become the best version of ourselves, and if we just allow Him to guide us, we will see the fruits of our actions in the blessings in our lives. I challenge you all to sincerely pray this week to see how you can change or become better, in order to become more like He knows you can be. I know He will answer your desires of righteousness, and I know He is there, and I write these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. :)

Liebe Gruesse,

Elder Peck
