President Uchtdorf

Oh, my Beloved Friends and Family,

I am very happy to be writing you all today. :)

This past week I have personally seen the hand of the Lord. The Lord told the people of Helam, the people of Alma, that he would prove them in all things, to see if they would turn to the Lord, their God. I know that God sees that we have difficulties in life and that He feels for us, and He knows our pains. But I also know that He doesn't always immediately deliver us because if He did, we would not have any opportunities to be strengthened and to become bigger than the things that challenge us every day. And we absolutely can become bigger. :)

One of my favorite songs from this week has been "Onward, Christian Soldiers" from the Hymnbook. I encourage you all to find a good version of that song and to listen to it and ponder it's lyrics and enjoy the melody as well. It's astounding. I will just share with you the chorus, which is one of my favorite parts. It says...

Onward, Christian soldiers
Marching as to war
With the Cross of Jesus
Going on before

...the message from those lyrics hit me hard. The cross of Jesus going on before. He really did experience the crosses of life, and He went before us. He took the front lines in the battle, and suffered all the blows, knowing that if we then suffered blows during the war, that He would know exactly how to be our medic, and to heal us of our wounds. I challenge you all to turn to Jesus as your medic in this war of life. Whenever you are wounded by uncaring words or actions, whenever you are afflicted by decisions that others made, or even if you yourself are fighting an enemy that seems to hit you in all your weak spots, I challenge you all to turn to your medic, Jesus Christ, and let him heal you and help you to get up and fight the good fight again. :)

We did service at a members house this past Saturday, which was really fun. We are helping them prepare their yard for a special milestone in their marriage, and we are digging and hauling wheelbarrows and moving rock and fun stuff like that. ;) XD

We also were able to meet with some Spanish people this past Sunday, as well as an Italian or two. One of them was put on the baptismal date this past week, and I'm very excited for him. His family are members, and he has been struggling with smoking, but he has finally given it up, and he has conquered his cigarettes, and he's preparing to be baptized soon. I'm very happy for him, and I look forward to the blessings he will receive from his decision. :)

We also were visited by President Uchtdorf this past week, which was an astounding opportunity. I sat in the front row with an investigator of ours, and we were only a few feet away from him. It was powerful to hear from a prophet, seer, and revelator of God, but I'll tell you what, by far the most powerful part of the whole meeting was at the end when he bore his testimony. The spirit was tangible, and I felt the truth of his words in my heart. I know that this church is led by Jesus Christ and that through the Prophet today, Russel M. Nelson, him and all the apostles may know what to do to help everyone in the world know Christ and be happier through Him. What a blessing. :D

That's about everything I have for this week. I love you all, and I'm very grateful to say that I know you all. You are all a huge blessing in my life, and I thank God every day that I have you. :)

Until Next Week,

Elder Peck

D&C 123:17

"Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed."
